Seed Selection and Seed Sowing – Imaluop

Hi, today we will discuss about the very important step of agricultural seed selection and seed sowing. Agriculture is the multi step process but some steps are very important. Before go forward for other steps in seed selection initial stage is seed selection.

It is the fundamental primary step in agricultural process. Seed selection is a very important stage of agricultural because it decide how much yield we get. Sometimes it becomes very difficult and confusing to select good quality of seed because there are many options in market for various variety of seeds.

If we unable to select proper seed then we can not expect high yield. It is a very challenging decision for farmers because wrong decisions in seed selection can cause great damage.

Once right seed selection done then we can say we finished half of the cultivation. Seed selection and seed sowing both are the very important step in agriculture both need special attention. We now elaborate both seed selection process and seed sowing process for more clear concept.

Seed Selection Process:

Success in agriculture remains mainly in the seed selection process. Healthy and good quality seed give high yield if other factors become in favour. Good quality seed can be found in the market or farmers can produce them by various techniques.

If the seed quality is not very good then it can cause disease in the whole crops. So right seed selection can eliminate the chance of infectious diseases to some extent. Research is going on to find good quality seeds for different crops and the government often makes efforts to reach the good quality seeds to the farmers.

So we can say that the final outcome of cultivation hides in the right seed selection process.

Seed Sowing Process:

After right seed selection it is the next important step in agriculture. Right techniques of seed sowing give much higher yields because arrangements of seeds in the field also have some effect on crop yields.

Right seed section then soil preparation and then we disperse the seeds in the field in various arrangements for getting high yield. Right seed sowing confirms getting all resources evenly by all plants in crops for equal growth in all plants.

If we disperse the seed in such a manner that seedlings grow in crowded then no plants would get sufficient amount of sunlight and they have to compete for other resources like nutrients, water. It would cause very low yield due to insufficient resources.

If we disperse the seeds very apart then it would not be an efficient crop yield because it is not utilisation of space and resources. During sowing it is important to observe that the seed sowed in proper depth because if it is not sowed in proper depth then there is a higher chance to be eaten by birds and animals.

Seed sowing can be performed through hand manually or using different machinery like seed drill.

Seed Sowing by Hand:

It is a traditional method for seed dispersal in the field but it is sometimes not effective and efficient. Because it is not possible to disperse the seeds evenly in the whole field.

In this method seed is distributed in the field using hands or hand operated tools but it takes a lot of time and this method does not give optimum results. But it is the most economic way to disperse the seeds so it can be accepted.

Seed Sowing with the Help of Machinery:

As seed sowing by hand is not effective as compared to machine powered sowing so modern cultivation is shifting towards machine powered seed sowing techniques. Different types of machinery like seed drilling machines.

Seed drilling machines use plough to make burrows in soils and seed funnels put seed in burrows then the burrows are covered by soil which ensures seed sowing at regular intervals and at proper depth.
