Biodiesel and Its Benefits – Imaluop

We are going to discuss a special fuel which is not very conventional but has very high potential biodiesel and its benefits along with its production and it is a great source of renewable energy.

What is Biodiesel:

The diesel we use is not present in sufficient amounts for our next generation and it will end in a time for sure so we should find some alternative of conventional fossil fuels. Biodiesel is a replacement for the conventional non renewable diesel and they are biodegradable.

They are used with petroleum in different proportions in different countries to utilise our natural resources properly. Biodiesel is produced from different organic materials like animal fat so they are renewable and we can replace the conventional diesel with the biodiesel.

Why Biodiesel:

  • Biodiesel is renewable so we do not need to be afraid about their complete exhaust and they are biodegradable fuel.
  • If we compare the toxic level of biodiesel with the toxicity of petroleum diesel, biodiesel is more safe than the conventional petroleum diesel so they are more safe to use as a source of energy.
  • If we compare the exhaust emissions rate of biodiesel with the normal petroleum diesel then the biodiesel will win so we should prefer biodiesel over normal diesel.
  • We can use biodiesel in conventional diesel engines so we do not use any special type of engine for using biodiesel so we can start using biodiesel without any technical issues.
  • Biodiesel can be produced from natural resources which are renewable and easily available, for example animal fat and vegetable oil can be used for production of unlimited biodiesel and quality of biodiesel is also satisfactory so we can use it without any hesitation.
  • But use and production of biodiesel is not occurring in sufficient amounts yet so they are not at potential use but they are added to petroleum diesel to some extent in different countries.

Production of Biodiesel:

Different types of lipid are used to produce biodiesel for example animal fats, vegetable oil like palm oil, soybean oil, rapeseed oil and different types of waste oil and it passes through three steps which converts the oil and fats substances into biodiesel.

In the first stage the organic material undergoes transesterase reaction in the presence of base catalyst and in the second stage the trans esterase reaction occurs in the presence of acid catalyst in which the fat and oil convert into biodiesel which is chemically fatty acid methyl ester.

Finally in the third stage we get our final product biodiesel so it involves biochemical reactions to produce biodiesel.

Biodiesel production is not very expensive process because the source of raw material used for biodiesel production are naturally available easily and in most of the cases it utilise different waste materials like waste vegetables oil and they can be collected easily from various restaurant, food shop and they can be extracted from different oil crops like soyabean, rapeseed, palm.

Biodiesel and Its Benefits:

  • Biodiesel and biodiesel mixed petroleum diesel can be used in all types of diesel engine in all vehicles so there are no restrictions on use of it.
  • In the case of petroleum diesel a lot of carbon emissions occur in our environment which is very harmful for our environment but biodiesel is carbon neutral fuel so it does not cause carbon dioxide emissions as in the case of normal diesel so we should prefer biodiesel over normal diesel to prevent environmental pollution.
  • Biodiesel can be used for production of heat in the case of domestic purposes and industrial purposes as heating fuel due to its high output of heat energy.
