Difference Between Biotic Factors and Abiotic Factors – Imaluop

Hi, what are going on, hope you are okay, let’s start discussing various difference between biotic factors and abiotic factors in an ecosystem. First of all if you have to know about what are biotic factors and what are abiotic factors in an ecosystem before we start discussing the difference between biotic factors and abiotic factors.

Though I will discuss both of them yet you can visit a little distance from here to know about biotic factors and abiotic factors in an ecosystem. Okay I will not waste your time more. I am going to start discussing the difference between biotic factors and abiotic factors with a comparison table.

What is Abiotic Factors in an ecosystem:

To understand abiotic factors you do not have to go outside of your home or the place where you are now. Just try to feel in your surroundings, can you feel the temperature around the place where you are reading now. If you are not using air conditioning or heater then you can feel it better.

What this is, nothing is an abiotic factor. It is only one example of abiotic factors which can influence you even if you are wearing warm clothes if now it is very cold in your area. Maybe you are wearing a light dress because now it is summer in your area but you are affected by the temperature less or more.

So if you are a human being who is affected by temperature then can you imagine other organisms. Do not think that they are also affected by the temperature which is an example of only one example of abiotic factors. Now if you imagine carefully you can discover all other abiotic factors in an ecosystem like light energy, wind, atmosphere, humidity etc.

So it is not clear to you that the components of an environment which are non living are simply abiotic factors. If you want to know more about abiotic factors then you can visit my abiotic factors blog post otherwise you can continue further.

Now What is Biotic Factors in an Ecosystem:

Now if you understand what are biotic factors in an ecosystem then you have to be in a forest with me where I will show you what are Biotic Factors. Imagine you are in a forest with me, look what you can find in your surroundings. Is it night or daytime if it is night then we should return back and we should revisit during daytime.

Okay I think you are a little busy then suppose it is daytime can you see any birds or any animal. I suppose you don’t see any birds or any animals, you only see bush and tall trees in your surroundings. Now can you tell me what is the role of the trees you can see only in your surroundings? It is very easy to answer for you, you know that they can produce food and they do not want to ask for food from anyone in the forest.

They are not dependent for food on other organisms. As they can produce their own food they are producers in the ecosystem and they are living and they are components of biotic factors. While you are thinking about it suddenly you see a rabbit eating grass in a far distance from you. Now can you guess what is the role of that rabbit in the forest ecosystem?

It is very easy to see that they are eating grass (producer) why they are eating because they can not prepare food they eat on the producer. Then you can tell the rabbit as a herbivore because he or she is vegetarian. Suddenly the rabbit ran very quickly you did not understand what happened wrong with the rabbit.

Look carefully at a fox and try to hunt the rabbit now what is the role of that fox. Actually this fox does not like to take the grass for food like the rabbit. The fox likes to eat any animal which has flesh because he is not a vegetarian he is non vegetarian. Not only this fox there are many creatures in the forest which are seeking for any animal including humans so be careful do not forget you are in the forest till now.

All the non-vegetarians which always try to hunt the other animals are carnivores. Now what about you and me in which category we fall. Herbivores or carnivores, actually we are both, means we eat both types of food so are omnivores. Now all these herbivores, carnivores and omnivores who can not prepare their own food they collect food from other organisms are consumers.

Now sometimes you have noticed that an animal died nearby your society but after some days it started to rot. How they rot, there are some organisms which are so small that you can not see them in naked eyes you need a microscope to see them. Now what are their functions in their ecosystem? They are decomposers which break down the biochemical present in the body of an animal.

Difference Between Biotic Factors and Abiotic Factors with Comparison Table:

Biotic FactorsAbiotic Factors
All the living organisms we find in any ecosystem may be visible or invisible in naked eyes. All the nonliving components in an ecosystem which affect other factors on an ecosystem.
For example all the flora and fauna which have the features of living systems. For example sunlight, humidity, temperature, wind energy, and water bodies are non living components of the ecosystem.
Biotic Factors are dependent on the abiotic factors in an ecosystem because environmental factors affect the living organisms in different ways.Abiotic Factors do not depend on biotic factors they are non-living.
We can find biotic factors in the biosphere. We can find abiotic factors in hydrosphere, lithosphere and atmosphere.
